Freshening Up for Spring

03.12.18

Despite snow still being on the ground, Spring is just around the corner. It’s time to freshen up our home! I’ll be honest, during the winter months I go into complete hibernation mode, often neglecting to keep things in order around our house, simply because I’m too lazy and cold to start any projects. However, warmer weather will be here before we know it and by then we’ll want to host gatherings, BBQ’s and spend time outdoors, so now is the time to get things done!

I’ve teamed up with Wayfair once again, to share with you my three steps to freshen up your kitchen for Spring! I hope my process will help you feel a little more prepared to enter a new season. As always, if there are any tips or tricks you’d like to add, leave them in the comments below.

Let’s get started!

Step One: Sort

One thing I try to do at least every six months is go through all of the cupboards in my kitchen. Most of the time I end up finding Tupperware with missing lids and expired baking ingredients. This gives me an opportunity to get rid of ingredients, containers, bags or even, appliances I’m no longer using. It also gives you a good idea of what you may need to replace. For myself, I just purchased new plastic containers and dish cloths, which were long overdue for replacment.

Step Two: Clean

There’s nothing more satisfying and annoying than clearing out your cupboards, fridge and freezer and giving them a good scrub! You never know how dusty your appliances or containers could be getting either. This also allows you to see how you could better be organizing your space. For myself, I’m a big fan of these cansiters for storing dried goods, a change I made after my last big clean.

Step Three: Decorate

Adding a few new decor items is the easiest and most fun way to prepare for a new season! For myself, I’m a big believer that whatever you purchase for a space like your kitchen should be practical. Spencer and I updated our kitchen stools and couldn’t be happier with the change it’s made in our space. They’re much more practical and nicer to look at. Along with the stools, we’ve added some plants to our space. We opted for some realistic, artificial succulents, as we’re not great at keeping real ones alive. Despite being fake, they’re livening up the room!

I know these tips are short and sweet, but they’ve made a world of difference in my life. You can also check out the Canadian bloggers below, who have shared their own tips for freshening up for Spring or visit the Wayfair blog for more home and decor inspiration!
