Today, I’m bringing something much anticipated to the blog, my first DIY! Last week my friend, and YouTuber, Caylen and I were discussing the possibility of collaborating on a few summer DIY projects! We finally decided our first project would be decorating canvas shoes because the whole ‘shoe decorating’ thing has been floating around Pinterest forever and neither of us had ever given it a try. Our main goal was to try to use things we already had at home, which ended up working out really well. The only item we didn’t have on hand were the shoes!
I’ve posted the details below on how to decorate your own canvas shoes as well as a video from Caylen’s Youtube showcasing the project.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Canvas Sneakers (we purchased ours at Ardene)
- Sharpies
- Acrylic Paint
- Paint Brushes
Caylen designed her shoes by drawing triangles in various colours using sharpies and painting the area around her laces using acrylic paint. I designed my shoes by drawing pineapples all over them using sharpies and painting the area around the laces using acrylic paint. For the pineapples, I simply drew a rounded rectangle with a crown on top. After I coloured it, I drew a crosshatched design in the centre of the rectangle. My only piece of advice when painting the shoes would be to let the first coat dry and then go over it again.

Thanks for reading along! We’d love for you to tag us in your summer shoe DIYs!
